Through the Lands of Princely Lviv

This walking tour of Princely Lviv explores the city's oldest quarter, which developed long before the familiar architectural ensemble of Rynok Square. The walk leads through the Old Market area and historic Pidzamche, where ancient churches and sites preserve the memory of Lviv's princely period and its earliest communities.

You will discover some of the oldest churches in Lviv, learn where the early town centre was located, what the city was like in the time of Prince Lev and how its suburbs developed over the following centuries. Part of the story is devoted to St Onuphrius Monastery, the beginnings of printing in Lviv and the printer Ivan Fedorov.

This tour is ideal for visitors who have already seen Rynok Square and would like to discover a quieter and much older side of Lviv closely connected with the city's Ukrainian heritage.
